Do weight loss belts work?
Often sold as "slimming belts" or "waist trimmers," weight loss belts may cause short water weight loss through sweating but they do not cause long-term fat loss or notable weight loss. Usually working by raising abdominal body heat, these belts cause you to sweat more. But mostly, this weight loss results from water loss; once rehydrated, one can rapidly restore this weight.
Real, sustainable weight loss calls for a mix of a good diet, consistent exercise, and lifestyle modification. Although they create a temporary visual impression, weight loss belts are not a good instrument for long-term fat loss.
